COVID-19: Lagos government considers full reopening of economy.


The Lagos state government has disclosed that it is considering full re-opening of critical sectors of its economy - The disclosure was made by the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement on Sunday, May 17 - Governor Sanwo-Olu said the state is still in the process of reviewing and considering how the phased unlocking will happen

The Lagos state government is considering the full reopening of its economy which has been under partial lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement on Sunday, May 17, said that the government was considering full re-opening of the critical sectors of its economy, even though the move will not be pushed in a hurry.

 Meanwhile, Lagos recorded another great success in the anti-COVID-19 fight as 15 more people have made full recovery from the virus.

This was revealed a tweet by Gboyega Akosile, the chief press secretary to Lagos state governor, via his Twitter handle @gboyegaakosile. The state's governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, May 17, said the patients were discharged to reunite with the society after they tested negative twice for COVID-19. Sanwo-Olu announced that the discharged patients 6 males and 9 females who are all Nigerians were discharged from the Yaba, Agidingbi and LUTH Isolation facilities.

In another report, the Lagos state government has disclosed that three of the 256 Nigerians recently evacuated from Dubai have tested positive for coronavirus. This was disclosed by the state's commissioner for health, Professor Akin Abayomi, on Sunday morning, May 17, via his official twitter handle. According to Abayomi, the evacuees who tested positive have been moved to one of the state's isolation centres. Recall that all the evacuees have been observing the mandatory 14-day isolation in Lagos, having arrived on Wednesday, May 6.
